Greece
Greeks worshipped a family of gods and goddesses named the 12 Olympians. Their names were Zeus,the ruler of the gods and goddesses,Hera,Apollo,Apollo,Artemis,Athena,Ares,Aphrodite,Hermes,Poseidan,and Demeter.They believed their gods were immortal. They made sacred spots were people would go to worship them called the Oracles.The most famous one is named the Delphi. The oracles were also known to have miracles there. For example, one time a Greek king went to the oracles and gave a huge offering he asked the person there if he would win the war. The person said a greek would win the war. It ended up being the other army and he died.The 12 Olympians were not the only ones that were worshipped in Greek religion.There was other Gods, but they weren’t as worshipped as the 12 Olympians. Both Roman religion and Greek religion influenced their civilization.They were both polytheistic meaning they believed in more than god. The Greeks influenced Roman religion. They believed in some of the same gods and goddesses such as Zeus. They were both similar because the Roman religion was influence by Greek religion.They have most of the same thought of religions that the Greek people had. |

The Roman religion was mainly influenced by Greek religion. They devoted time and effort to their gods.They adopted some heroes from Greece such as Hercules.They also adapted to gods from other various religions. They also had different opinions to the gods too. For example, the Greek god Zeus is named Jupiter. The Romans would also worship their gods.Also Romans eventually picked up Christianity. The Romans more so took thoughts of religion from others. |
